What is a "bundle"?
A bundle is a QuickBooks Online "Bundle" (Group-type) item — a package of individual services/inventory items sold together as one item. Common examples: a wellness package, or an "exam + vaccine" combo priced as a set. VetBadger reads these bundles from QuickBooks, but bundles themselves are created and managed in QuickBooks Online, not in VetBadger.
Can I set a fixed price for a bundle (e.g., $72 for exam + rabies vaccine)?
No. QuickBooks bundles don't support a standalone price — the bundle's total is always the sum of its component items' prices. If you need a fixed package price different from the sum of the parts, the common workaround is to add a discount line item to bring the total down to the target price, rather than trying to price the bundle directly.
Does VetBadger show the individual items inside a bundle, or just the bundle name?
Inside the VetBadger app itself (encounter, estimate detail, and invoice detail views), a bundle always displays as a single collapsed line — you'll see the bundle name and its total price, not each component. This isn't user-configurable.
Can I control whether bundle components show on the printed/emailed invoice or estimate?
Yes — but that setting lives in QuickBooks Online, not VetBadger. VetBadger's PDF/email for invoices and estimates is generated directly by QuickBooks, so QuickBooks' own bundle-display setting decides whether the customer-facing document shows just the bundle name and total price (collapsed), or the bundle name plus each individual component line (expanded).
This is managed on the Bundle item's edit screen in QuickBooks Online (Sales → Products and Services → open the bundle → Edit). If the option isn't obvious, QuickBooks support can point you to the setting for showing bundle components on printed/emailed forms for a Bundle-type item.
Note: this only changes what QuickBooks puts on the actual PDF/email. It will not change how the bundle looks inside the VetBadger app itself (see above).
I'm getting a "Duplicate Name Exists Error (6240)" when adding a bundle to an estimate — what's that?
This happens when a bundle's name collides with another QuickBooks name (a customer, vendor, or another item name) elsewhere in the company file. Removing the bundle from the estimate makes the error go away, confirming the bundle itself is the trigger. Renaming the conflicting bundle/item in QuickBooks to something unique resolves it.
I want an itemized estimate instead of one lump sum — how?
Build the estimate directly from the patient's Assessment (adding tests/treatments individually rather than via a bundle) using the "Build/Manage Estimates" flow — that produces a fully itemized estimate in QuickBooks by default, since nothing is being grouped.
